LOCAL CASE STUDIES
The Committee for the Civil Rights of Prostitutes in Italy and TAMPEP International Foundation in Holland will produce two case studies concerning, respectively, the Province of Venezia in Italy and two specific experiences in Holland, in Hague (where a new law is currently being applied) and Alkmaar (where the previous system of tolerance is still in effect), with the aim of describing in detail the integration strategies of the existing social networks.
The two realities, which were selected based a preparatory analysis at the national level, have not only obtained remarkable results at the local level but, even more importantly, represent experiences which can be transformed into real, integrated intervention models.
Based on these case studies, and following an analysis and reinterpretation of the social contexts which are the scenarios where these interventions take place and a comparison and exchange with other local realities with similar problems, all these local networks (which have operated up to now thanks to the personal capacities of certain operators) will be linked and co-ordinated in order to identify models for the development of transnational networks which are able to co-operate thanks to the re-valuation of the resources present in the individual communities, while at the same time respecting their needs.
To this end, both case studies will include a section dedicated to the definition of international co-operation strategies aimed at harm reduction, eventual repatriation and prevention/reduction of hardship in the countries of origin, in order to integrate the real, local experiences in Italy and Holland with the specific characteristics of countries like Albania and Romania by strengthening the relationships with the local associative networks which are already working in this area: the Forum of Albanian Women, ARAS.
